Kyle Tavares – Information Design Consultant at NEPS, LLC

This journey started with a peer of mine asking me to help establish a new student group at Ryerson University. Of course I jumped at the chance! As other members came on board, the Xplor Canada Ryerson Chapter was formed. After attending different Xplor Canada events and tours I began to grasp what Xplor was all about.

As the school year went by, I had to obtain an internship in the graphic communications field. I reached out to Paul Abdool to ask about his input on the internship process. A couple forms later I was the first Xplor Canada Intern! During my internship I was able to meet some great people and was given an opportunity to work with Joanne Gore at Avanti on marketing collateral for the upcoming Graph Expo.

When I attended Graph Expo that September; this was when I realized my internship at Xplor was a great experience and it had helped expand my network of industry professionals.

I remained highly involved in Xplor Canada and Xplor Ryerson in my senior year and decided to attend Xploration15, the Xplor International where I continued to network and meet other Xplorers. One company I connected with was NEPS. I had a great conversion with Mary Hegarty from NEPS and I learned a lot about NEPS and the industry. Later that evening Mary and Denise Miano from NEPS approached me and asked if I was still looking for a job! I guess they liked what I had to say too!

Now I am completing my first few weeks as an Information Design Consultant at NEPS in Salem, NH., and I am continuing my journey of growth and learning. And it all started with that Student Group and Xplor Canada.

Thanks Xplor Canada!
